Established in 1994, the Alliance for Better Housing (ABH) focuses on affordable housing for residents in the southern part of Chester County PA. Its programs include housing development, housing counseling, tenant services and community revitalization. The agency offices are located just outside the Borough of Kennett Square, but serves the needs of low-income, working families throughout Southern Chester County.

* Housing Counseling |
Provides one– on –one financial education and helps families purchase their first home. |
* Housing Development |
Rental - owns and manages scattered site rental properties. |

Homeownership – through new construction, develops for sale housing. |
* Tenant Services |
Provides tenant services such as youth programs, Homework Club and health education for residents. ABH does not own or manage these properties. |
* Community Revitalization |
Promotes resident involvement and empowerment to create a vital, vibrant community. |

Completed Projects and Program Accomplishments
ABH has successfully completed two townhome housing developments (40 units total) for first-time homebuyers, and acquired and rehabilitated 13 scattered site rental projects, some of which are Section 8 subsidized. ABH has provided counseling and financial education to well over 500 families seeking to become homeowners. ABH also performs tenant services under contract for a privately-owned townhouse community and property management services for its two townhome developments. Since 2003, ABH has provided staff and implementation support for the Historic East Linden Project, a resident-driven comprehensive community revitalization effort that involves many different collaborators working together to improve the physical conditions and quality of life of the neighborhood |
